Infant seats and child safety seats that are used in
cars are not the same. Infant car seats are forward facing meant for the
safety of newborns in the cars. They allow the babies to be strapped
securely and protect them from any possible injury due to an accidental
jerk or in case of an accident. However, regular infant seats are meant
to assist young babies to sit up.
These infant seats are not meant to transport babies or protect them
during a crash. However, child safety car seats can be used as infant
seats too. Both these seats come in various colors and designs and look
quite stylish and trendy. The foremost priority being the safety of the
child, make sure that these seats have a wide base and are sturdy for
greater stability. They should be able to bear the baby's weight
comfortably.
One must always follow the manufacture's instruction for the weight
limit and the age limit with the infant seats and the child safety
seats. Secure locking mechanisms and safety restraint belts are a must.
A 5-point harness is better as it keeps the child completely safe and
prevents the baby from falling or slipping down. Non-skid surface as the
base and easy to clean fabric are ideal for infant seats.
